Overview
Want to experience the wildness of Montana wilderness in the luxury of a mini-home? This Dodge Promaster has everything you might want for complete off-grid living. Powered by solar and two lithium batteries, there's never any reason to "plug in". Enjoy a hot shower after a long hike or make a gourmet meal in the oven and three-burner stove stop. The 20 gallon fresh-water tank is enough to last up to five days, depending on how much water you use. The cassette toilet is also available for convenience.
It is also equipped with everything you might need if you do want to "plug in" (fresh water hose with filter, 30 amp cable or standard cable with converter).
The bed is an RV full size with a memory foam topper and a super cozy down comforter for those chilly nights. The heater is powered from the gas tank with digital control system and the ceiling is equipped with a remote controlled Maxair fan with two additional fans included.
It is incredibly easy to drive, fits into regular parking spots, and is the appropriate size for driving up the gorgeous Going to the Sun Road. It gets approximately 16 mpg, so you don't have to break the bank filling it with gas.
I lived and travelled full time in this van for 6 months and spent most of the time off-grid without every needing to be in overpopulated campgrounds. I'm more than happy to share all of my tips and tricks.
